4711 - The World's Original Eau de Cologne!

For over 200 years, the light, citrus fragrance of 4711 Eau de Cologne has been used by both men and women around the world and has always delivered on its promise - to refresh the body, mind and soul.

In its early years, its fame and reputation grew and gradually the fragrance became known by the address of the increasingly famous location where it was made:  Glockengasse No. 4711.  It was imitated so often and so widely outside of Cologne that "Eau de Cologne" (or in German, "Echt Koelnisch Wasser") gradually became a generic term for this type of fragrance.

While the exact formula remains a strict secret, the use of Bergamot, Lemon and Orange provide its light and characteristic fragrance and are known for their revitalizing powers.  The addition of the essential oils of Lavender and Rosemary, known for ther aromatherapeutic properties, provide a calming and relaxing effect which steadies the nerves.  A base of Neroli (extracted from the bitter orange blossom) is extremely soothing and contributes to a positive attitude.

Even in a world of constant chage, 4711 Eau de Cologne has been packed the same famous, six-sided "Molanus" bottle since 1822.  The bottle features a label displaying a small selection of the many awards and medals won over the years at events around the world.
